In this engaging memoir, she describes her extraordinary journey of discovering the incredible value of liberty. Her new-found freedom enabled her to prosper, travel, and share her good fortune. From visiting the camps of freedom fighters in Afghanistan during the early 1980s to working with orphanages in Kenya, Sigrid’s story is one of both triumph and pain. The wonder of freedom!
My Life in Freedom is the second installment of Sigrid Weidenweber’s memoir. It begins with her escape from the Communist Republic of East Germany in 1961. It is a book about fear and trepidation. It is a book about courage and perseverance. It is a book about a young woman who was unwilling to live any longer in a cruel and controlled country where her life and future were not her own. It is a book about the powerful desire for freedom and the willingness to risk anything to gain it. It is about the wonder of freedom. It is a book about her eventual immigration to the United States and her success as a wife, mother and accomplished writer. It is a book about her giving and sharing of her knowledge and financial security with other oppressed people in third world countries throughout her life. I encourage you to read “A Harsh Wind Always Blows from the East” as it is the first book of her memoir and it chronicles her life as a child born in 1941 in rural Germany and her survival through the terrible years of WWII. Mrs. Weidenweber is a gifted writer and has shared her knowledge, travels and experiences through her many books including historical novels of the Volga region of Russia and Catherine the Great. Admittedly, I have read all her books and after you read her memoir, I hope you will be encouraged and curious to read more. Marilyn Stoddard

Another insightful writing by Sigrid Weidenweber
The experiences that Sigrid Weidenweber has had in her lifetime has helped her to form a well educated political view that should be taken seriously. This book definitely merits discussion and praise. Congratulations Mrs. Weidenweber, if you have more books in the works, I will be interested.
